Hello everyone. Ive not been able to post devotionals because I was away without my laptop. Heres a devotional I came across today. Its interesting because during our prayer call yesterday we prayed for peace. Peace in our homes, with our friends, at our jobs, with our family, with our enemies, with everyone. This devotional relates to that. God bless. ****************************************************************** THE BATTLE RAGES (from In The Garden devotionals) Scripture Reading: Romans 7:15-25 Scripture Text: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit John 3:6 (KJV) Do you know someone who just rubs you the wrong way? No matter what you do or say they want the opposite? Well, there is only a couple of answers to this problem. This devotional titled - The Battle Rages as has been said-- The Harder the Battle, the Sweeter the Victory. Do you know someone who just rubs you the wrong way? No matter what you do or say they want the opposite? Well there is only a couple of answers to this problem. One is to get an arbitrator, and the other is to have absolutely nothing to do with them. By the way.... the second solution (having nothing to do with them) is not an option when considering scuffles in marriage. Seeking a counselor there is always the best solution. I was speaking here of people you work with or associate it with through some social activity. In any case, you are expected to be professional or at the very least civil in your dealings with other people. The problem is, if youre like 90% of the people who face this predicament, you try to handle it yourself... and its a constant battle. There is another battle that we face everyday that is even more intense than that. This battle is fought on grounds where you alone must face the aggressor. This battle is fought in the inner recesses of your mind and heart. Listen to how Paul describes it: Im sure youve heard it before... For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Ro. 7:15 - 19 (KJV) Sound familiar? One thing I have learned through life is that relationships are either vertical or horizontal. The vertical relationship of course refers to Spiritual matters, while horizontal relationships have to do with others (or flesh). So, where do you think your dislike for your co-worker comes from? Does God dislike your co-worker? Listen, when youre vertical relationship is right, your horizontal relationship will be right. Its so true... the biggest battles we fight every day are the battles within. We know right from wrong, and good from bad, still we find it easier to give in to our inbred sin nature than to practice walking in the spirit. Any one can gossip, and put down another person, but it takes a man or woman of God to let patience have its perfect work in us. I cant even pretend to know what your battles are every day, but I do know from experience that... Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5,6 There is one other battle most of the WORLD is fighting and that battle is raging in not just the mind but is effecting the heart (both physically and spiritually) and that is anger and utter fear over the POWERFUL EVIL in the WORLD today. Little girls being abducted from schools, and used by EVIL Militia for their own purposes and thrown in mass graves; Countries - even the USA - deep into such wickedness and debauchery all for the sake of money and WORLD dominance; threats of retaliation if writings such as this one are discovered by the INTERNET POLICE; and Christians young and old are being targeted for exile at the least or annihilation at the most. Let me just say that things are not as they were, and every believer must get in touch with God - and before you leave your house today - everyday... ask God to release His Spirit within you. Begin living the text for today: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit John 3:6 (KJV) Where there are situations that seem impossible to handle, remember that Mans extremities, are merely Gods opportunities to work, and LEAD YOU VICTORY. Lets Pray, Father God, we so very often fight battles of our own making, when we could just be giving them over to you. Help us to learn to walk in the Spirit. Help us to call upon thy Holy Spirit to dwell within us, so that when we live within our horizontal relationships we find peace, contentment, joy, and abundant life. In Jesus Name. Amen
