Hello everyone! I’ve been quieter than I usually am (I’m a quiet sort of person) because I’ve been tucked up in my author’s grotto (a cozier version of the writer’s cave.) I’m a terrible multi-tasker, so usually, if I’m writing I can’t focus too much on the internet. It distracts me. Anyhoo, I thought I’d drop in and give you all an update on what I’m up to. I’m busy working on two books, The Hooker & the Hermit and Hearts of Fire. (Yes, I agree it’s a lot of H’s) In between when Penny’s working on her chapters for THATH, I’m working on Jack’s story. He’s turning out to be a gruff, silent, stoic sort of character, which worries me because I’ve mostly written chatty, flirty men in the past. I want you to love him like I do, but at the same time I’m wondering if you will… He and Jay are similar yet very different. Time will tell. In reading news, I’m currently almost done with a book of the non-fictional variety written by a woman who has been an idol and inspiration of mine for a very long time. I met her once: she was lovely and I was very awkward. It’s called The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer. She’s spoken about her work as a living statue in blogs and interviews over the years, which actually inspired and informed me when I was writing Jade in Still Life with Strings. I’d recommend this book to anyone who works in any kind of art form, or if you just want to read an honest and true account of what it’s like to connect with an audience in the age of the internet. I don’t even have words to describe how good it is. It’s making me feel all the feelings. Also, she’s married to the writer, Neil Gaiman, and there are some heart-warming/sad/funny titbits from their life together scattered throughout the book
