Callbacks will be held Sunday, January 25th from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Our student film contracts allow for SAG and non-SAG alike. The roles are unpaid; the film will play at Northwestern’s Senior Directing Thesis premiere in June and will subsequently be distributed to festivals. For more information, a script and sides, and to set up an audition, please email groupcasting2015@gmail. Logline: Group is an alternative narrative about the highs and lows of recovery. We are looking to cast the following roles: Karen – Early 40s – Female – Any Ethnicity – Lead A compassionate and well-meaning psychiatrist who runs a therapy group. Always prepared and tries her best, but not the greatest at commanding a room when people get rowdy. She herself, having no mental illness, sometimes alienates her from the people she wants to help. Steph – Late teens, early 20s – Female – Any Ethnicity – Lead New to the group. Struggling with bipolar disorder and trying to figure out where she belongs in this group. Recently had to take time off school and is angry at her situation. Lydia – Mid 30s – Female – Any Ethnicity – Supporting She has been with the group for a long time and its obvious. Well into her treatment, shes the most well adjusted and gung-ho. She cares about her fellow group mates and tries to be the beacon of hope for all of them. Sam – Mid 40s – Male – Any Ethnicity – Supporting Been with the group for a while but still not 100%. A history of anxiety and substance abuse. He struggles to stay on the same page as everyone but likes to use dry humor to cover up his feelings. Its apparent hes the oldest and a little out of place. Gene – Early 20s – Male – Any Ethnicity – Supporting Usually looks unhappy that hes at group. Suffers from depression. Hes very deadpan and enjoys Lydia’s optimism. Rosie – Late 20s – Female – Supporting Very antsy and volatile, she leads with her emotions and isnt afraid to show them. Open about her struggles but more judgmental about others experiences. Todd – Mid 20s – Male – Any Ethnicity – Featured Angry member who almost never talks, is sometimes present is sometimes not. Considerate of others emotional reactions and often the one who goes to comfort them first. Director’s Bio: Chynna Ladage is a Northwestern Radio/Television/Film student currently working on her thesis, GROUP. A long time lover of film and television, she directed her first short with her friends when she was ten. Working primarily in cinematography as an underclassman, Chynna shot several small projects, working with both digital and super 16 cameras. Two of the films were NUWFA (Northwestern University Womens Filmmaker Alliance) grant recipients. Last year she received the Multicultural Filmmakers Alliance grant for Quince, a film about a girl who struggles with family problems on her quinceneara, which she wrote and directed and is currently being submitted to festivals. She plans to return to her hometown of sunny Los Angeles to continue working in film and television after graduation. Bonus: you can see her in season 1 episode 2 of IFCs The Birthday Boys.
