Hello everyone :) Yesterday a woman came to me who was quite distressed... she is the mother of 2 beautiful little girls Nakoda and Pendo, aged 7 and 5... :) Sadly the family are living well below the poverty line, they are homeless in fact. For now a local family has allowed them to stay in their house, that is without water or electricity. In a few weeks though, they must leave, which will leave them sleeping open air. The mother was in distress for several reasons, her children had not eaten for 3 1/2 days, they were crying for porridge (flour and water) and she couldnt even provide that, and the children werent understanding why their mum wouldnt feed them..... Also she had a terrible toothache on top of everything else, and could not hardly speak... I heard how her and her husband, both totally uneducated, were finding it impossible to find work or food. Its the dry season here, and times are hard for people who rely on the bush and working in the fields to get by..... Needless to say we sent Mama to hospital where they took out her tooth...and she is feeling a little better this afternoon. Everyone now has a full tummy too I should add.. Nakoda and Pendo have never had any education at all. They will need a tutor to catch up with where they need to be academically, then they can join primary school with the other children their age. This family are in big trouble here, and are doing all they can to help themselves, but life has just dealt them a tough few years is all... They are also good and proud people, they knew about the work I am doing, but waited until things were so bad they had no where else to turn before they reached out........ Nakoda and Pendo need some help here... Help to ensure they start school and have food, clothing and medical costs covered with it. To do this will not take much..... Sharing as little as £2.60 a week with one of the sisters will do all of that for them in fact....... Its so little to bring so much to a childs life.... :) As the family is about to become homeless, and the parents have never had an education, for all i will find them an income somehow, I fear it will take some time given the circumstances, so Iv decided to put them in my family sponsorship too.... To sponsor a family costs £22 a month, and provides housing, food and water and me the time to find them a way to support themselves with it. If you feel you can help Nakoda or Pendo and their parents in anyway, please do get in touch with me, or visit v2vtanzania.org/child-sponsorship/ or v2vtanzania.org/family-sponsorship/ Thank you for taking the time to read about the Ernesti family :) Love and light, from a very hot and dry Uchira... x
