Hello everyone, time to introduce Duke and myself. Duke is a lucky dip horse, I have no idea what his breed is and can only guess that he is around 7 years old. I have had him for 3 years now and his previous adventures in life are pretty interesting. A friend of a friends husbands was the manager for our local Rodeo horses, and three years ago after I had lost my horse at the time due to a lease to buy contract going wrong I got a phone call from this friend offering me a new horse to fill the void, Duke was about to be put to sleep as he had gone out of control, he was a bronc horse for two years and developed the bad habit of trying to attack people when he had got them off, or when they were mustering them, he killed a few dogs in the process. But for some reason I the chance to go and see him in the rodeo pens and hopefully bring him home and change his life forever. Which I did, how could I not, I paid $50 for him, loaded him onto a stock truck and spent the next three years showing him there are things to look forward to in this world. And here he is now. My 16.2 hunk of handsome, from Bronc to Dressage, it has taken a while and we are a long way off from where I would love to be, but at this stage I am happy to keep learning and loving his zest and willingness to please. Not the best photos, but these were taken this summer, we had our first real summer of training, outings, and fun.
