Hello facebook friends. Wanted to thank you for your prayers and provide a some what ,not really brief update.Left Fl in the beginning of aug. for a scan .Surprise, cancer in back pressing on spine and emergency surgery, cancer removal, and a spinal fusion on 8/19 leveled us. That was followed by 5 days of high dose of radiation for 2 hours at a time under Hopkins cyber knife machine with our head wrapped in a form fitting, specially made vinyl mask and bolted to a table to prevent movement.I felt like I was in a horror movie.Because chemo was delayed due to surgery and radiation the cancer about doubled in size in my pancreas ,liver, lymph glands and a new spot of suspicious nature was found in my lower back and spleen. Donna and I were hiding out at my sons beach house on the Eastern shore trying to avoid people contact due to infection and pain .Everything that could go wrong seemed to be doing just that and the pain and discomfort was significant. Family checked in on us but mostly we were isolated. I became despondent, not depressed but heading that way. I called on God in a desperate way after a series of sleepless nights and a review of my life and the way I had lived it. I compared my life to a race and was disappointed in the race Id run. Too often about me at the expense of others and almost never about God. This is where I thank you for your prayers for God spoke to me and said, Dont live or fret the past.It is over and cannot be changed. Your race however is not, so finish the race the best you can no matter how long it may be. Remember ,no one is promised a tomorrow.Live your best each day. That was about four weeks ago. We moved to my sisters in Stewartstown ,PA for company and help. My recovery from surgery continues to go well. I have begun new chemo and we are hopeful. In fact we have successfully transferred our chemo to our home in Fl and will be returning to Hopkins regularly and receiving care in FL. Please know that in our time of need your prayers and the Grace of God rescued us. If you offered to visit or I should have called forgive me and know that I did want to see you and still will make every effort to call.Our battle is no greater than many you and others are fighting and less than many. We are extremely grateful to all and for every prayer. Please continue to pray and we will continue to to run our race to its finish.
