Hello fellow Neapolitan mastiff breeders, owners, dreamers, etc. Does anyone remember when the USNMC posted proposed changes in the beginning of last year, that would be 2013? And, how there were only negative comments from members? And this is a quote from a letter that Dr Sherilyn Allen wrote in regard to these changes..... The new proposals seem to be invented by one or more breeders who are trying to make the description of the Neo fit the morphology of the dogs they are currently breeding, perhaps with a goal to winning in the show ring End quote... I have looked and looked all over Facebook for the postings regarding the initial changes. They have been removed, and, that would have been the revision 1. Presumably, revision 3 was sent to the AKC for its approval, and has since had the proposed NEW AND IMPROVED standard placed on hold. We, the members, (and there are only about 75 of us), have not voted on this standard. There is a big push to change our standard, because, the Italians are changing theirs. We all need to take a big look at who, what, where and why. I have been in this breed since 1994, and plan on staying. I will not support a board who makes huge changes like this without consulting its membership. There is a letter that circulated over a year ago from Dr Allen, in regard to what she felt was the harmful, needless changes proposed to our standard. I will publish it later. I would like to publish it on the two USNMC pages, but, Im sure it wouldnt be approved to be posted.
