Hello fellow classmates. A friend and coworker of mine has started a drive to save the Webster theater. It closed last year. He went to the High School and got the entrepreneurial class involved (Think how rich some of us would be if they had that class when we were in school), and they came up with the name of H.O.P.E for the non-profit organization. HOPE stands for Help Entertain and Restore Organization. They have currently raised enough money to purchase the building, they close on the 31st, but much more is needed. They are selling chairs (a plaque will be placed on the back of the chair with enscription), and the cost is $300. I asked those who have been doing the annual float and we have, if my count is correct, 11 of us in for $275. We thought it would be great if we could get more raised for the cause. They are going to have a wall with plaques of large donations and if we could get some more interest I think our class could be on that wall instead of the back of a chair. I think $1000 would be needed to get this accomplished. If anyone else is willing to donate it would be great. We all commited to $25 but if that doesnt work for you anything would be great. Also, we chose to have the plaque show some rememberance for those classmates no longer with us. We have several ideas but are looking for more ideas from everyone. If you dont want to do it through the class of 85 you can go to Save the Webster Theater facebook page to find the link to donate online. Otherwise the money would need to be sent to me so it can be donated as a whole on behalf of the Class. My address is 1133 Walnut St. There is also a video that the high school class made that is posted here. I also believe they are planning on selling T-shirts at some point. Just let me know if you plan to donate so I can keep a count. Let me know if any more info is needed.
