Hello, fellow writers! I d really appreciate your opinion about this literary matter thats been bothering me. Im in the middle of writing a ten-page digressive personal essay. I set my narration in the present time, while Im washing my clothes in our front yard. Naturally, I observe my neighbors behavior, and do mental comments on them, then I ramble on to other ideas. I write my neighbors actions in the present tense of course, coincidental with my washing. I need to know if what im writing is still under the personal essay category or could it now be classified as a short story? Thank you in advance for your inputs! Peace!
