Hello folks. My understanding is that the Motion that Councillor Rankin intends to put forward on Tuesday next will result, if passed, in quashing the earlier motion of Regional Council regarding the public consultation process on Otter Lake. I understand that Councillor Rankin wishes to see a new motion, should the former one be rescinded, which restricts the scope of the public consultations to the areas of the host communities and that it also provide for the CMC playing a major role in said consultations. As I understand it, this would be consistent with a request made by Mr. Donnelly in his presentations on behalf of the CMC at the COTW meeting of June 18th past. Again, it would help to impress upon members of Regional Council of the strong interest level of the host communities if there were a good showing of interested residents at this meeting of Regional Council. Thus I alert you all to what is proposed to happen on Tuesday and ask that you alert your members and urge as many as possible to turn out. Again, the meeting is scheduled to start at l p.m. and one should arrive at Noon in order to ensure getting a seat in the Regular Council Chambers (and not the “overflow room”). The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber, 3rd Floor City Hall. See you there. Even if this effort is not successful, my understanding is that the Notice of Motion by Councillor Rankin served to delay the public consultation process somewhat (into the Fall as opposed to starting this Summer) as all work had to stop on that topic until this motion of rescission is dealt with (at least that is my understanding). Thus, again, Councillor Rankin deserves thanks and accolades from the community – anytime you see him or should you want to Email a note re your gratitude for his efforts. Peter McInroy
