Hello friends The Everest Season The two month Everest - TopicsExpress

Hello friends The Everest Season The two month Everest season is upon is, these are the months of April and May where its possible to climb Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world at 29,035 feet. All other times its not possible as 200 mph winds surround Everest. The summit attempt is usually a window of a couple of weeks around mid May. Ive been fascinated with Everest for many years now, and trekked the Annapurna region in 2012. Ive read many stories about Everest, the best one being Bear Grylls, Facing Up, the best adventure story Ive ever read. He recovered from a parachute accident which nearly crippled him, to fulfill his boyhood dream of climbing Everest at the age of 23, the youngest Brit at the time. His story is riveting. As you know I like to follow inspirational people, and this Everest season Im following two Everest summiteers on Facebook, and they are Alex Staniforth and Tim Mosedale. Tim is 48 and it will be his 5th summit attempt up Everest, he is a mountaineer instructor and taking 4 clients up, he has summited previously up the north and south face of Everest and at the time was only the 10th Brit to do so. He will be making history this time by taking a special camera with a tripod to the summit to take a spectacular panoramic view of Everest. Im meeting Tim in the Summer. Alex Staniforth is 18 and from Cheshire, he has overcome many difficulties like epilepsy, anxiety attacks OCD, its taken him 4 years to raise the money and prepare for his Everest summit attempt. Hes been sponsored and has cost £35,000. Alex will be the youngest Brit to reach the summit on the south side. He is raising money for REACT a charity for endangered animals and CLIC a charity for children with cancer, Im going to sponsor him, hes raised £4k and wants to raise £29,035 the height of Everest in feet. I think people who climb Mount Everest are a special breed, and certainly must have a very Positive Attitude to keep going under such extreme conditions. They have a burning desire within them, and although the loss of life on Everest is now quite low due to advanced techniques and weather predicting equipment, there is always the risk that something unexpected could happen. They have to spend 2 months on Everest going up and down to one of the three camps from base camp to acclimatise to the altitude, and they actually climb Everest 5 times. I wish Alex and Tim well on the first day today of the 3 week trek to base camp, and will keep you posted on their progress, or you could follow them yourself. Have a great Tuesday. Love from Loraine x
