Hello friends! We are in Arizona for the 1st appointments - TopicsExpress

Hello friends! We are in Arizona for the 1st appointments associated with the clinical trial for Interferon! He has 6 appointments today which includes lab work, physical exam, ekg, eye exam, ... etc, and then a bone marrow biopsy tomorrow morning at 10. Once he passes all of the screeners, he will be able to officially begin the Interferon injections! Thanks to all that donated back in August, we were able to use that $$ to travel here with no financial worries! We decided to drive this trip, (which wasnt bad at all). Dave is very proud of our time... we made it in 14 hours and 40 minutes. Yes, I may have peed on the side of the road very near (or in) the Petrified Forest which didnt help our time, but hey... it was an emergency!!!! The last trip we took, we got airline tickets through a friend that works for A A and only had to pay the taxes!!! It looks like Dave will be able to get 2 more trips from that friend, and my hopes are that possibly other friends/family that work for airline companies that dont use all of their yearly passes might let him fly w their passes on occasion. Since this research study is conducted by the pharmaceutical company, only the medication is covered. But after careful consideration of all our options, making the trips to Arizona is the least costly, believe it or not! Anyhow, after these appointments, we will be given the specific dates that he is to travel here. It is quite often at first, but then tapers off and eventually becomes once every 3 months. Totally doable... especially if this medication is tolerated well and his symptoms go away... or even slightly improve from what he is currently enduring. If youd like specific prayer requests, first pray that he passes all of the screeners today and tomorrow, pray that his bone marrow biopsy comes back with no progression to Polycythemia Vera or Leukemia, pray that his eye exam is painless (he might be most worried about that one) and lastly for a safe trip home. Then we can pray later for toleration of the new medication! You might throw a prayer in there for my mom and kids because Im sure they are driving each other crazy by now! :) Thanks to everyone for your support! Xoxoxo
