Hello friends! We are in Ipoh now. We have been traveling for ministry and were not able to update you on HiStories. Anyway thank you for reading and rejoicing in our blessings! Here is the next part ... HS-19 My concern about getting a job was short lived. As soon as I stopped working at the farm for David, I found another job. This time God blessed me with a very easy job. I worked in a lab, testing PVC pipes at the Nylex factory. I worked every Friday and Saturday for a few months until my final examinations. After completing my final exams, I got a summer job working as a casual general worker at the Repco Central Stores. The Christmas Season was near and most businesses had extra orders to fulfill, so it was not difficult to get a job. Repco had many stores selling car parts and accessories all over the country. The Central Store was the buyer and stockist for all those stores. They received daily orders from their stores. I was responsible for taking orders, packing and sending the stock out to the company trucks daily. I was a general worker and was sent to replace absentees or to fill in whenever they were very busy. I did all kinds of work including stock collection, packing, stock keeping, dispatch and even sweeping the floor. I worked hard and always looked for things to do. I would always ask the store manager, Mr. Harry Dowling for overtime work. The store normally remained open for one or two hours after regular hours to fill last minute orders. I would stay on for that one or two extra hours. Most of the full time staff would be queuing to clock out just before the bell went off signaling the end of the work day. I however, would look for Mr. Dowling and asked if he wanted me to stay back. I would also ask to return on a Saturday for overtime work. As a casual worker, I was paid a lower rate so he was glad to give me work. I noted that there was always work; one just have to look for it. The summer was fast coming to an end and so would my job at Repco when term started at university. What would be my next job adventure? I really wished I could work part time at Repco. It was near my home; only a 5 minute cycling route. The pay was good. Besides I was tired of having to keep looking for new jobs. I recalled one of the verses in the Book of Psalms given to me by Mrs. Isobel Wee before I left for Australia. It reads, Psalms 121 1I look up toward the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth! 3 May He not allow your foot to slip! May your protector not sleep! 4 Look! Israel’s protector does not sleep or slumber! 5 The LORD is your protector; the LORD is the shade at your right hand. 6 The sun will not harm you by day, or the moon by night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all harm; He will protect your life. 8 The LORD will protect you in all you do, now and forevermore. So I said, “Lord I trust you and look to you to help me!”
