Hello friends and family!!! I humbly come to you to share something thats grown personal to me these past few weeks and simultaneously ask for your help. TL,DR: Im running a marathon for a good cause and need your help fundraising! Please, please, PLEASE read through the entire thing before brushing it aside!!! As you may or may not know, Im a part of the Schoenstatt Catholic Movement and we just had the inauguration of our Marian shrine located at 225 Addie Roy Rd back in September. We raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the span of many years in order to get it built for the Austin community and all travelers passing by. However, we are still needing help with the minor details (landscaping, decorations, etc) and have decided to partake in a huge sacrifice in an attempt to raise the money we need for it. You see, we just celebrated the 100th year anniversary of the movement in October and I was witness to it in Germany. As part of it, a group of guys ran a torch (Olympics style) from Pompeii, Italy to Schönstatt, Germany. Thats 1800kms - or about 1118 miles. Oh yeah. IN NINE DAYS!!! All this was to represent the international connection that we all share when we have a common passion and similar goals in mind. What? Seriously? I was awestruck by their audacity (ahem. Oskar Demczyna, my polish friend, for example) What better way to bring that same spirit to the United States in a local fashion than by running the Austin half marathon with the same goal in mind!? Its the first time in my life Ill do something like this, but hey... We accomplish big feats one step at a time, right? Sometimes Gods grace and one man is all it takes. We are doing this for two reasons: 1) as a symbol of love to our movement thats part of the universal church 2) to fundraise for the remaining details needed to make this beautiful place of grace that much more welcoming. This way, when you all decide to visit the Shrine at 225 Addie Roy Rd - and youre all invited - you can experience serenity, peace, and an atmosphere that words cant begin to describe. That being said, I humbly but firmly encourage and request that you help our cause by considering donating any amount you think reasonable to our page below.
