Hello good people, apologies from the Highlands, I just kept - TopicsExpress

Hello good people, apologies from the Highlands, I just kept waiting and waiting for the Smith Commission Report.....or could that be the Smith Omission Report? After all, since some of the wonderful powers ( subject to an election, two runs through the House of Commons and a wee dribble through the House of Lords...) are a slight re-hash on parts of the Calman Commission....( several years past, butchered in the Commons, and still waiting) and other worthy attempts to give us what would have been much more less waiting or hassle than full blown independence....but I digress! Now I ken this isnt about farming, nor about even Scotland, but it is significant in some parts, especially since there have been some wee issues surfacing about Berwick ( thats that wee bonny English town across the Rio Tweed) which once was a royal burgh of Scotland in the reign of David 1st, and despite having other claims to fame, that it was totally butchered back in 1296, following besieging by Edward 1st, where he got a bit upset by being delayed by their intransigence, he decide to make an example of them. Subsequently Edward 2nd decided 25,000 of the good burghers should come with him to help at Bannockburn and we ken what happened there....but also the Great North Road, a road many of us will ken fine, runs through, or past there. Now theres a point, it is another road that has long needed a wee bit of love and attention, dualling would be good, joining up the disparate bits that remind me of my own A9....speed cameras and lots of drivers with more ambition than skill, but before I upset anyone, this wee bit from the Daily Torygraph flitted past my phone browser. It seems that Westminster have found some funding amidst all this austerity, to offer supplication to those in Northumbria, a wee snippet of a mention that great works may commence. Far be it from me, or anyone, else to observe that there was rumours the SNP were maybe fielding a candidate there, but it is amazing how all of a sudden both Tories and LibDems are laying claim to finally having striven all these years...yes, we do listen....road works are coming to a General Election near you, and our potential candidates are most vociferous in your support ( really)! Anyway, I shouldnt even confess to having read that paper, but it does make ye think.....Dont blame me, its their own paper thats querying the good offices and intent of the salient parties. They just cannae help themselves, but for the borders, any better road communications are good with the South, and the bigger markets. Just dont be cynical now will ye?
