Hello, internet. My name is Will McVay. As of 12:00 this afternoon, I am privileged to have been selected as the nominee for the 32nd House District by the Delaware Republican Party. This selection was by default after an ... exaggerated ... ad was placed in the Delaware State News soliciting a candidate for the open seat currently occupied by my Democratic Party opponent and contested by me. I filed in April. This ad appeared a week and a half ago. I think that was a particularly ham handed move, but Im not upset about it. Fact is, Im no Republican. Sure, I went into the Commissioner of Elections office and changed my party registration to indicate that I was, but I was then and am still now a sustaining member of the national Libertarian Party, and a Kent County State Board Representative for the Libertarian Party of Delaware. My allegiance is to them. My views align with theirs. It is no wonder the Kent County Republican Party pulled out all of the stops to try and push me off of their ballot. Unfortunately for them, they have failed. The fact is, the Delaware Republican Party is weak, ideologically and therefore organizationally. While they occasionally pay lip service from time to time to the ideals of liberty and small-government, they do so inconsistently and many factions within the party, especially in Delaware, do not even bother and instead display open hostility and contempt for these ideals. This duplicity and contempt turns off potential converts and alienates significant portions of the American electorate. Therefore, despite my Republican registration and nomination, it is my moral obligation to endorse the following candidates in the upcoming general election, especially over their Democratic and Republican opponents: Scott Gesty for United States Congress Andrew Groff for US Senate David Chandler for Delaware State Treasurer Don Ayotte for the 20th Representative District David McCorquodale for the 21st Representative District Steven Newton for the 22nd Representative District Gordon Smith for the 30th Representative District James Brittingham in the 39th Representative District Patrick Shipp for NCCo Sheriff Also, despite his unrepentant Republicanism, you should also consider voting for one of the few exceptions to the disturbing trends dominating the Delaware Republican Party, Sam Chick, who is running in the 31st Representative District. You should also visit de.lp.org and learn about your local county Libertarian Partys meetings, find out about becoming a candidate and carrying the torch for liberty in the November elections, and get involved in winning our freedoms from the heavy handed domination of the Democratic/Republican machine. Thank you for your time, and thank you, DEGOP leadership, for proving me right. Youre stuck with me now.
