Hello ... its a touching story how the lawyer and poet Francis Scott Key was inspired to create The Star Spangled Banner, right on the morning after America had fought for and won its independence from the Brits for the second time and he saw the old flag, damaged, but still up there on Fort McHenry. Alex was quite emotional about his American flags - they were always rised in front of our home, except in times of tropical storms and hurricanes, and if damaged they were replaced, but he never threw away and old and worn ot flag. They had become part of his happyness to finally have found a new and beloved home country, after he had moved around on three continents most of his life. The most emotional moment I felt about a Swiss flag, as a symbol of Swtzerland, was when our airplanes, when SWISSAIR had grounded. not because of 9/11, not because of a war - but because of bankruptcy. So SWISSAIR machines sat anywhere in the world and couldnt fly home, because there was no more money left to fuel them up. SWISSAIR was a severe loss, and I was shocked. Our government wouldnt save it, but a bad and very damaging bank instead, with several billions of tax money. I remember pilots telling they cried, because the white cross on red painted on SWISSAIR machines anywhere in the world meant a connection to home to them. Some emotions ... we just cant help but have them. Tina
