Hello my friends I hope this post finds you in the best of spirits. We find ourselves in a very challenging time in our community and in the world for that matter. As I sit and try to observe the current circumstances we find ourselves in I become aware I feel love for both sides. In reality the two sides are actually one group of people who see something differently and separation is created. I find the fear starts creeping in when I think of our children. I look into my daughters eyes with a knowing that she loves all. She has not inflicted suffering on anyone and if I continue to do my job as a parent and a teacher that will be very rare...yet she is hated. There was a little boy at the grocery store yesterday. He looked to be a year and half old. Him and his mother were in front of me. He decided I looked like a perfect candidate for a game of peek a boo and I wouldnt disappoint.. This little boy was not the same color as me but none the less his eyes quickly revealed the same magic that my daughters eyes did...yet he is hated. This little boy and girl looked into my eyes and I can tell you there was no difference. Yes I may have more attachments to Marley being my daughter but the love was identical. Everyone of us have had that at one time or another depending on how fast the circumstances of life have stacked up on us. That which I am speaking is a love & reverence for life that we are born with. It is not until our culture gets its hands on us that we start to forget that. We separate ourselves by hemispheres, continents, countries, states, race, religion, party, sports teams, schools, neighborhoods, streets, all the way down to a pillow between me and my significant other. Even with all that separation we urn to be in the presence to others. The desire to love and be loved is the beautiful flame that will always burn within us. The presence of life that flows through every one of us is the exact same. Given different circumstances anyone of us could have turned out different the good the bad and the ugly. But that is not reality. Reality is here we are the active participants writing the history books together. If we find a way to save this beautiful planet it must begin in this community. How can such a small group of concerned citizens change the world? It is actually the only thing that ever has - Margret mead. I ask all my friends regardless of color to open their hearts to the message I have received from these two divine children we are one. The love I shared with them was the same beautiful love. And that love can only be found in our hearts. No matter how many differences there may seem the presence of life that flows through all of us the exact same. Love is the only thing that can turn an enemy into a friend which was spoken by MLK years ago and it remains true to this day. We must seek to understand one another to begin the process. I ask all faiths to send out a loving prayer to our community in these times of uncertainty knowing each prayer will reach our hearts and remove the burden of figuring this whole mess out. I ask all to open their hearts to this idea and share with anyone you feel may be called to hear it. I send my love to all. In Loving kindness, Dave
