Hello my friends. I want to tell you about a very special person, - TopicsExpress

Hello my friends. I want to tell you about a very special person, someone I would like all my friends to show some support to, particularly my vegan friends (thatll make sense in a moment). I first met Phung 2 years ago. She owns a Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. At the time she was already vegan and she was really struggling with owning/operating a business that served meat. Her compassion is so evident the moment you talk to her, and I could see the pain that she felt by feeling stuck in her situation: not wanting to serve meat but fearing losing her livelihood if she did. Fast forward two years, and I visited her tonight while Im in Calgary. I walk through the front door and lo and behold! the server hands me a menu and explains that theyve recently converted to a meatless menu!! I was overjoyed and immediately ordered my favorite dish, which they had perfectly veganized! It was seriously Out. Of. This. World! I got a chance to talk to Phung as well. She told me that she had decided that she needed to follow her heart and make the tough business decision. And it IS a tough decision. She lost half of her regular customers in the first couple of weeks. Apparently, as some of them told her, she doesnt care about them anymore, which is extremely arrogant and self-centered, to say the least! Phung is advertising her newly-changed restaurant now targeting vegans and vegetarians, and Im very very hopeful for her. :) To put it into perspective, her restaurant is right at the edge of downtown Calgary, the cowboy town, aka cow-town, smack in the middle of cattle country, as the locals refer to it. There are only two other vegan restaurants in the city, as far as Im aware (the city has over 1 million people). Phungs courage in following her heart and her compassion is one of the most powerful and humbling things Ive ever seen from a fellow vegan, or any businessperson. So, please, please, please, all my friends, if you believe in following your heart, if you admire this kind of courage, please show your support for her. If youre local to Calgary, please try Tamarind for lunch or dinner and say hello to Phung. If youre not, please show support in any way you can. If youre not local, please comment below to show your support, and Ill pass the messages on to Phung. :) Its situations like these that vegans really need to lend support to one another. Also....
