Hello my pretties, As we hurtle towards a summer filled with fabulous fashions in white and gold accessories the thing on a lot of minds will be oh god,how do I wear that with my pastey skin ..or was that just me ? First thing to remember is that this is not the 80s and we dont want to see you soooo brown that your teeth stand out...just remember if you are usually pale,suddenly becoming very bronzed is not the best look,nor is it fashionable and it doesnt wear off to well either...think patchy disease !!! Ok,some tips to get it right...first exfoliate your entire body before you tan,it will make the results so much prettier and it feels wonderful..infact this is really something you should be doing weekly all year.I really like the Pure Fiji range of body exfoliants...readily available ,reasonably priced and easy to use,they leave you feeling and smelling divine. Next, another thing we should be doing all year ...moisturise...everywhere ! Straight after a warm shower seems to work well and your skin will remain hydrated and glossy looking all day.My favourite body moisturiser is Keihls Creme de Corps available at Mecca Cosmetica.I find the 1 litre bottle lasts me for many months and I do use it daily. ...Tan...I find that the very best way to get a subtle,pretty tan is by using the St Tropez Tan Everyday Body in Light/Medium.This product is easy to use,doesnt seem to go streaky and is buildable to whatever strength of tan you wish and it is the very best colour I have seen.It is also less likely to, infact doesnt transfer onto clothing unlike a spray tan which can.A good tip if you suffer from under arm perspiring and are worried about product transfer is to use a powder puff to apply a little talcum powder to the problem area ...problem solved ! On that subject if you do suffer from hyperhidrosis a shot of botox will be your best friend! I am not a fan of tanning faces,rather I like to match your foundation to the chest area so that you dont end up with a different coloured head...not the look we are after! It is important to have a foundation wardrobe so that you can match your décolletage.My other go to tanning product is not really a tanning product,rather a makeup for your body.Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, available at Gilmours Havelock North Pharmacy.This product is the bomb..it covers like a foundation so removes all varicose veins,bruises,blotches etc etc,doesnt transfer and is water resistant...you can swim in it.It is easily removed in the shower by the addition of a body wash and it is as cheap as chips !Even though it is called airbrush legs,you can use it everywhere and one of its great points is that it is instant,so when 5 minutes from leaving home to go out for dinner you decide you hate what you are wearing [it happens!] and you suddenly have bare,white legs...hey presto..a tan...just dont put your new white dress on before spraying incase you point the nozzle in the wrong direction! And finally makeup...this summer sees a big return of the brown lip..think Bianca Jagger in the70s and 80s .I cannot stress enough the importance of 1] choosing the right brown and 2] having white teeth. White teeth are easy,go on to ebay and buy yourself some Crest professional strength whitening strips..so convenient and easy to use and did I say reasonably priced? just dont buy from a seller in China,they are likely to be fake! My fav brown lips are Tom Fords Abandon ..you can currently get this on strawberrynet..[I am not sure why I tell you this as every time I do it is sold out in a day]. And my other fav is Nars Dolce Vita which I have shown an image of and is available at mecca cosmetica.Why do I like these? ...They are a pretty warm brown not a harsh cold brown...so very wearable .If you are young I would pair this up with a bronzer such as Nars Laguna on the cheeks but if like me you are well matured something slightly warmer is more flattering especially when wearing white.I have pictured the new Nars blush Unlawful that I was lucky enough to play with this week before it was in store..it is stunning.Now the eyes..it is all about the brown smokey or the gold sparkly eye this summer.I was in Sydney for a day this week and purchased the two palettes pictured...one is called The Smokey Eye palette and one is called And God Created Woman part 2 ..they are both fab and have a lovely brush,primer and pencil in the kit.These two kits have brown ,smokey eyes covered and for golden eyes my absolute favourites are by Charlotte Tilbury and Tom Ford and are available on Net A Porter...be warned if you havnt shopped there before...so much amazing in one place.Have a fab week my pretties xxxx
