Hello non-political and political peoples of the facebooks! This involves some politics but its mostly written in light of R.I.P Robin Williams Ian Curtis Kurt Cobain Amy Winehouse Hunter S. Thompson Alan Turing Vincent Willem van Gogh Peaches Geldof and other dead heroes. In New Zealand we seem to have this really strong commitment to the notion of a two-major-party binary system (and it may helped some sides of the political spectrum more than others lol). It seems to happen in many Westminster governmental countries, and in America its intensely pronounced. people-press.org/2014/06/12/political-polarization-in-the-american-public/ Some people are so committed to the ideology behind their chosen representative party, so strongly convinced that their version of the countrys wellbeing is the best version to live by, that in the face of a loss, their spirits crack. They can become fearful of the government, stricken by concerns for the future of their children, smitten with disenfranchised feels. Its very similar to the Westboro Baptist Church fundamentalist God hates America/Captain Planet and Gaia kinda thinking except the love is for the Communist Manifesto/ Neoliberal Doctrine / Communitarian Ideals / whatever dogma the losing party subscribes to. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_alienation The loss of assurance that their government loves them creates a feeling of overwhelming isolation for those too closely bonded to politics at the expense of other bonds. The saving Grace for the AMERICA HATES WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH is that even though the political spectrum in its entirety are basically against them; at least they have God and family support from each other. Im kind of going on about America a bit much for the sake of the principle. The point Im trying to couch with these ideas is the point of suicide. This status is an appeal for people to say to themselves: far out, I know people who were hella committed to politics and they lost, I hope theyre doing okay, I could have a chat to them and find out where theyre at. Its not a call to pretend any of us are necessarily invested in their politics in any way, for us to convince the fallen that we understand or that we all go through it cos that can be seen as belting the other person. Sometimes the most important thing we can do for our neighbour to show that we love them, is just to listen. Not necessarily to take their burdens on ourselves cos were carrying enough of our own.
