Hello parents, It was great seeing all of you that was able to attend the parent teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. We had a remarkable response from our parents. I hope you learned more about your child’s work and our high expectations for them at Pittsburgh Fulton. Please continue to keep in touch with your child’s teacher throughout the school year. Title 1 Math Night – October 22 at 5:00 Many of you requested to partake in some time with the math teachers to demonstrate to you how to support your child with their math homework. Research has shown just how important it is for parents to be able to assist children with their education. Being able to labor through homework together is a vital part of a child’s progress. We want to guide parents through some of the methods in mathematics so please join us for our annual Title I Math Night. PTO- Meeting- October 22, 2013 at 6:00 As a reminder, our Vocabulary Parade on October 25, is not a replacement of, nor a celebration of Halloween. The Vocabulary Parade was derived from a book called “Miscellaneous.” It is a reading story in our fourth grade reader. We started our Vocabulary Parade 7 years ago as a fun way to extend the story into our school and increase our student’s robust vocabulary. We host a full school parade in our handmade costumes around a four block area. The students are called outside by grade and class and each grade has four winners (Most Creative, Most Humorous, Best Use of Costume Word and Most Difficult Word). All our students are winners because on that day they extended their vocabulary with their word and hopefully from one of their classmates’. Soon you will need a dictionary to understand what your child is saying.
