Hello phatcathaus friends... Weve been busy last few days at the Mosque. Now heres another story bout Max our Sporo survivor. For one month plus weve been trying catch this boy, I cant remember exactly the date but think it was bout a year plus ago or 2. So this is his journey. The first time we met Max was at our usual eating place in our neighborhood, he was a 100% feral cat, very weary of his surroundings, wouldnt let us touch him so we would feed each time we see him but always away from humans. Leave the food then hell come. Then he started to go missing for months till we spotted him in another row of shops. He wasnt looking good, open wounds on the back and sores on nose, ears, toes and his backside. We couldnt catch that night so after many nights we spotted him again. He was looking really bad. From a few shops away we called him, surprisingly he ran towards us. There we could see his poor state of health hes in. Decided we want to bring him home but no carrier how? After having a conversation with him while he ate, I went over to the car and he followed. Swear to god Im not making this up what happen next left me speechless. Open the front door, ask him to come and he just jump right in. He sat quitely on the floor board, no meows, he just sat there. Im totally amazed. So got home 5 minutes away, prepared his cage and he slept soundly through the night. Ok now comes the vet visit, we werent sure of his injuries or illness cos Max came way before Ciko & Marley. So to cut the story short, Max had seen 3 different vets in 3 months. The first vet think was Dr Lim, the minute he saw Max, he told to put him back in the carrier. Wow... Must be serious, he put on his gloves and surgical mask then he explained to us. Max is suffering from Sporo and it can be transmitted to humans. All those round like burn marks on his body are not cos of abuse, are actually ulcer like cause by Sporo. But the long open wounds were likely human inflicted. How can a sane human do this to a sick cat? Poor Max sick and defenseless. Max did not respond well after 2-weeks of medication. His breathing was also affected as it has spread to his lungs. Sometimes he seems out of breath like asthma. So off to another vet, forget the name, also no recovery. It looks that we are gonna lose him but we werent giving up. How to give up, oral medication to Max was like giving him treats. He never retaliate when its his medication time. Need to pop 3 different pills, syringe feed silver water and vitamins plus silver gel on wounds. You try that without getting scratched. Such determination to live. Thats how we got his name, MAXimum determination to live. So last we brought him to Dr Han, hes expensive but hes good. After some skin samples and blood work, Dr Han gave us new meds. We also included immune boosters, nano silver water, vitamins. Within 2 weeks his wounds were healing and by the 5th week was 95% cured. So Max has healed wonderfully until recently he had a minor kidney problem. Hospitalized for few days at Dr Naz to get his kidney function back to 100%. His kidney needs to be monitored monthly. Wow! Thats a long story. Pray for Max, he has taught us to never give up.
