Hello team, We are five weeks away from SDBF and our attendance has not been very doing very well. I believe the departure of some senior rowers might have affected us in some ways. Personally, I feel sad when some of our rowers have to leave or take a break. Trust me, most of the time, we will go behind the scene and do our best to persuade them to stay on but we also understand that their reason for departure. Some may want to pursue other things in life while others are at a different life stages. Their reasons are indeed valid and it is not our prerogative to stop them from their pursuit. All we could do is to respect and give them our blessings. However, these seniors did not abandon us. Instead, they left us a legacy. A legacy for us, the current rowers, to carry on. As we all know TeamOneStroke from 9 years ago was very different from the current one. During those times, to qualify for semi final was a major challenge for the team. However, through the perseverance and leadership of Ivan,Jim, Edwin, Sharon, Jo and all the previous rowers, the team has steadily progress into a medal winning team. This takes a lot of effort and commitment. I applaud and appreciate their dedication. I dont think we should squander their efforts. I also wish that team members will not leave and hope that they can stay with us as long as we are in the team but is that realistic? We all know that there is no such thing as an everlasting banquet (不散的宴席). The only way forward is to carry on with what they have left behind and make it better. I think thats the best way to show our appreciation. So I appeal to you, my fellow teammates - if you have lost faith or passion during this period of time, I like to ask for your little courage to try again. I know it is not easy but trust me, as long as you are willing to try, we will be here to accompany with you this journey. Lastly, I hope we can have better attendance for the next 5 weeks. Lets do this together. I know we can, I believe we can and we will. All we need is five weeks of serious commitment. I cannot motivate everyone here but i hope I can bring everyone to focus on one goal - To do well during SDBF. Let me end off with this quote. Courage doesnt always roar.
