Hello there Dads Army friends! Has anyone noticed the many times Cpt Mainwaring is addressed as plain old Mr Mainwaring when in uniform? I wouldnt have thought that the gallant captain would be too chuffed with that, yet he rarely rebukes people, even members of his platoon! So lets all remember please that Its Captain Mainwaring, and this is Sergeant Wilson. I often wonder if its because the characters (those who knew him in their everyday lives) would have been used to calling him Mr Mainwaring before the war, and this stuck. What are your thoughts on this?
