Hello to all Supporters of Second Chance Dogs of Ashe As - TopicsExpress

Hello to all Supporters of Second Chance Dogs of Ashe As many of you already know 2014 has been one busy year. As of Dec. 24th. 2014, SCDA found homes for over 362 homeless dogs most of which were pulled from or intercepted before going to Ashe Animal Control. This is more than 100 dogs more than in 2013. Thanks to Social Media we’ve had a dramatic increase in our ability to find homes for older dogs and not just puppies. Having a permanent spot at our local Farmers Market has increased our Community Exposure which translates to more dogs being adopted locally to responsible pet owners. While we have not yet accomplished our goal of saving all Adoptable Dogs surrendered to Animal Control, our rescue efforts have dramatically reduced the amount of adoptable dogs having to be euthanized. In fact, there was one 3 month period where no dogs were euthanized and we kept AC pretty much empty. Unfortunately this is not the norm but it was such a rewarding feeling while it lasted. One thing we’ve realized this year is that we must move forward with building a Facility where the dogs can be kept, cared for, socialized, shown and then adopted. We are hoping that this coming year SCDA will be able to purchase property suited to build such a Facility. Once the Property is secure we can move forward with the construction of a much needed “High Country Animal Adoption Center”. Through Grants, Donations and support from people like yourselves who love and care for animals SCDA can make this a reality. We don’t know what 2015 will bring but we do know that we can’t stop doing what we do until the problem is no longer there. We’ve never done anything harder than this Rescue Work. It’s a 24/7 job along with our regular jobs and responsibilities but at the same time there is nothing that brings us greater joy than to save these precious, wonderful loving lives every day. If we didn’t try to save all of the dogs our lives would be much less stressful but how do you pick and choose who to save?? All animals deserve a Second Chance and it’s this attitude that has contributed to our success. We hope you will continue to support us in any way possible. We wish everyone HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR. P.S. If you want to make a donation to our rescue, you can send it to Second Chance Dogs of Ashe, 102 Hummingbird Lane, Fleetwood, NC 28626 Or donate through our paypal button on our website at secondchancedogsofashe.org Jacob and Petra Giles
