Hello to my Family and Friends, I wanted to let you know about my upcoming mission trip to Guatemala Mexico. This will be my first mission trip away from home. I have wanted to go for several years but have been reluctant about leaving Amy and the kids for an extended time, even though two of my kids are having kids of their own (grin), it is still difficult especially with me being so far away. Through a lot of prayer I have decided to go this year from July 20th-28th. I will leave with a group of five other people led by Lew Poe our youth minister. The other 4 are young men and women from our youth group. I have relied on many of you for prayer over the years and would ask that you would pray for us as often as it comes to mind between now and then. While there we will be serving at an orphanage, two christian school, and a community center in two of the poorest ghettos in Central America. In addition to this we will be serving alongside a church that ministers to people who live in the city dump. We will be spending our time feeding, helping, praying for needs, and loving people in the name of Jesus. For the last several years I have heard the testimony from Lew and the different youth groups that have gone and had their lives changed. How they have went and seen those who were desperate for basic needs. How they were able to meet physical and spiritual needs, to share the gospel and give hope to those who face constant struggles. I know many of you have gone on similar trips and understand the impact that it has had on your life and the lives of those you serve. I need support in two ways prayer and money. If you know me you know I like to be up front and direct and not dance around about the point. Prayer and the means to pay my way are both crucial. I am responsible to raise $1,300 for my expenses and then to help my team members if I am able. Beyond that every dollar I can raise will go into medicine and basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing for those we serve. I believe that the Lord commanded all believers to share the gospel however and whenever they are able. I look forward to being one of those who are sent with your help.
