Help Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Staten Island (FACSI) bury the Irish Famine dead that were exhumed from the St. George Municipal Parking lot when construction started on the new Court House Complex. Memorialize your family, tell their story, support or sponsor the reinterment event which will take place on , Sunday, April 27th at 12:30, this is a FREE event and all are welcomed. In 1851 a NY newspaper writes: The Marine Hospital & Quarantine Station Staten Island, New York is crowed to access, the number of poor people from Ireland who are wandering through the streets of Staten Island in a starving condition is dreadful. Their fate was tragic, but now, more than a century and a half later, they will receive the recognition and benediction they never received in live. Join FACSI, Msgr. James Dorney, S.I. Pipes and Drums, AOH, Staten Island OutLOUD and Tenor Andy Cooney for the burial service of these unfortunate travelers who died on the very shores of S.I. never realizing their dream of a better life. Show your support by taking out an ad in the Commemorative Booklet; $35 1/3 page, $70 1/2 page and $140 full page, pictures are ok, FACSI Pay-Pal account is on our website (link below) or contact SICemetery@gmail or 917-545-3309. Help us provide for them. Thank you. americantowns/ny/statenisland/organization/friends-of-abandoned-cemeteries-inc-s-i
