Help Heidi .. Hi all, My names Heidi Everett and Im an out and proud Mi/h recovery addict. A an artist, Im always looking for new and novel ways to switch on the lights in the darkened room of our current mental health system. My next big project is a short live action film called DOG. Dog (a real blue heeler named Ming - c/o Sandy Jeffs housemate), gets into a bit of a pickle on the street and is sent to be cured in a local psych ward hospital. Problem is, Dog is actually well, a dog. Hard to cure. But the psych system dont really care for grandiose delusion and attempt to heal (heel?) him anyway. A short film of under 10 minutes, DOG is funny, loving and moving. It tells the story happening in our lives today. Dog doesnt aim to diss the MH system, just open up a social awareness. We have a cast and crew made up of many people with lived experience of the psych system as well as a brilliant professional film crew ready to go. The script has been run through hot coals, a pasta maker, a ton of bricks and an experienced screen writing team and has emerged triumphant. Im excited! Next hurdle - we need to raise $3000 to pay the ace film crew who have drastically cut their fees to help make DOG. Can you help? We need pennies from heaven. What $3000 pays for; $1k - camera operator, scene advisor, film materials $1k - sound operator and gear $1k - editor Please, if you can donate whatever you can afford to help make DOG, youll be part of the first lovingly made film about our psych wards. It will hopefully open up a whole new expedition into societys unknown frontiers and get more stories told about this heartbreaking experience.
