Help! Long post!! I want to be sure i include all info save having to answer the typical questions. :) In my 25 years in horses Ive never had this issue! The horse pictured is a 10yo OT gelding. He is boarded with me. Some History: He retired around 5. A woman adopted him through CANTER. She worked with him for a few months and then he sat in a field for 5 years. He was very well cared for just wasnt ridden. Fast forward to early summer... A friend asked me to pick this guy up for her on one of my Trips. He was a total Jerk. Lol Very understandable. Friend had him for a few months. He dropped a considerable amount of weight in that time despite proper feed. Fast forward a bit. My student did a trade for this guy a few months ago. I immediately treated him for Ulcers. He began gaining weight well. Now on to the problem: About a month ago this horse started walking circles continuously! No real cause. It started after I moved him to his own paddock. At first I thought it was because his neighbors came in at night. So I would feed the neighbors n put them back out. Ive even left a horse beside him constantly. Sunday I put a horse in with him. Within 10 minutes he was back at it. Tuesday I put him in with another gelding in a much larger field. He seemed to not be walking as much at first. But this morning when I went to feed he was at it again and had worn a path. I have tried everything I can think of. He is outside 24/7. He has been treated for Ulcers and is given 2 cups of Aloe with his feed in two feedings. I have tried giving him a slow feed hay bag.... That just Ticked him off and hed keep walking. I tried the bag for a out 5 days hoping hed settle. I then resorted to throwing an entire 70lb square bale in there still in strings. He would simply take a bite and keep walking. He of course has lost a ton of weight. (Not looking for feed suggestions. Got that covered.) ;) He just walks it all off. He gets Tribute Kalm Performer. Alfalfa pellets, Cocosoya, Flax Seed and Aloe juice. Hes getting 10 lbs alfalfa hay per day plus quality orchard or grass mix hay almost free choice. Any suggestions?? How do I stop him? Im at a total loss!! Thanks!
