Help NFP increase awareness of handspinning and by extention roving!! You can help by joining the Spinzilla NFP Team You can spin quietly in your own home and revel in the wonderfulness of the roving NFP creates with member fiber. OR You can volunteer to spin at a public location to raise awareness, like the public library, a nursing home, a LYS (local yarn store) create an event at your farm to encourage visitors, invite the local spinning guild to your farm, or ???? If you cannot spin, but want to assist, you can donate a bump of your roving to the cause. Here are the overall goals of the event: • Spin as much yarn as possible during Spinning and Weaving Week (October 7th - 13 th ). • Participate in challenges designed to increase skills and knowledge in your customer base (and to think of challenges that reflect your brand’s particular style, too!) • Raise awareness of handspinning in the yarn market and beyond • Establish a spinning program within the NAMP (Needle Arts Mentoring Program) The Spinzilla winning team is the one that spins the most yardage – in singles – during Spinning and Weaving Week, October 7 th through 13 th . We encourage you to develop challenges within your team. If you are part of a team that loves to spin one type of fiber, you may want to issue a challenge to your team to see who can spin the greatest variety of breeds. If your team is made up of people who love to spin fine yarns, a challenge to spin a fat/funky/chunky thread might get your team thinking outside their comfort zone and learning new techniques. Feel free to think of new ways to generate enthusiasm, encourage education, and inspire spinners to try new things! Spinner Sign Ups! Between August 15, 2013 and September 23, 2013, spinners from all over North America will be able to sign up for Spinzilla teams at the Spinzilla website, spinzilla.org . The cost to participate is $10.00 per spinner. Team names will appear in a drop down list on the Spinzilla website under the team tab (Look for team NFP). Spinners may choose their team on the website and sign up. Your team captain will receive a list of team members with their contact information when sign ups end on September 23 rd . We are working on the spinner signup section of the Spinzillla website now and it will be completed before spinner sign ups begin on August 15th . email the NFP office if you would like to sign up for Team NFP. info@naturalfiberproducers
