Help a Massachusetts Mom Out: She writes: I have a 15 yr old son with PDD/ADHD/Mood Disorder/DD. He has had an increase in unsafe behaviors at home and in school. He is in the right school placement. He is currently hospitalized. Looking to be discharged early next week. I have home services in place, that can be increased some. I am a single mother and his father is involved minimmially. Safety is a major concern (to self and otheres). Everyone is in agreement that he needs a residential program at this time. School district says they will not pay for residential piece because he is in a school that accomodates his needs. He already qualified for DDS. I am now referring to DCF. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can get my son into an appropriate residential program? Who is ulitmatley responsible? Does anyone have a good Special needs atty or advocate they may be helpful?
