Help a Mom Out: Category: Homework: She writes: Hate, hate,hate it!!! Husband took over, as I started to lose my mind over that, and other school related crap!!! My 4th grade (dyslexic, ADHD, anxiety) daughter doesnt understand a lot of it by the time she gets home. When I inform the teachers of this, their reply is: well, she understood in class...UGH. EhhhEmm...ADHD?!?! When she simply cannot finish it or she doesnt understand it (I must admit having trouble myself understanding it) she gets a check mark, which sets off her anxiety. If I have some fancy excuse (in writing) about why she didnt complete her homework (eg. she was at therapy for anxiety) they will excuse her from it. But, my daughter gets embarrassed about ALL of the notes...MORE anxiety!!! Anxiety for our whole family!!! When I hire an advocate (president of IDA) to meet with the SPED coordinator I get NO reply to my request for a meeting...WTH(heck)?!?! We do have a meeting (supposedly) coming up with the whole IEP team. We still have not received an adequate confirmation from them, just the date & time. But, I have to share allllll about why my daughter CANT complete her homework?!?!?
