Help a Mom Out: She writes: my 9 year old son has been diagnosed with mood disorder NOS. The doctor is not ready to say Bipolar and thinks he also has OCD. Due to his fits of rage towards me, and his sister, extended family thanks he is just a brat and I need parenting classes. However, therapy and medication are working. His fits used to last two to three hours and now between the medication, and what we have learned in therapy, I can usually talk him down within 10 to 15 minutes. The longest fits now lasting 30 minutes. Anyone else experience this and how did you handle it? Obviously what I am doing is working and it simply isnt a case of him being a brat. Thanks for any input / advice you can give me.
