Help me to understand this kind of congressional scamming: The refreshing freshman Senator Ernst hates the government that is so good to her and her family with government subsidies (i.e., our tax dollars). But maybe its tough down on the hardscrabble family farm and she and her family somehow deserve government handouts. I seem to remember that it was 14 Congressmen (one Democrat) who voted to slash SNAP funds (food stamps) from the Farm Bill last year, while voting for the same Farm Bill that to gave them and their families generous farm subsidies because, well, theyre wealthy, down-home family farmers and down-home family farmers need and deserve all the boost from government tax dollars that they can grant themselves. And I clearly remember many of those rich farmers quoting Paul as saying no work, no meal ticket (Im paraphrasing) from the Bible to justify the slashing of SNAP funds while voting to enrich themselves by voting for farm subsidies in what back in the day used to be called a conflict of interest.
