As of today the healing process as taken a minor step backwards. Anything will help. Thanks! Last Saturday at a show a piece of equipment failed on stage. As always, Rich Fessler jumped up to fix it so the band could play un-interrupted. While doing so he caught his shin on the edge of the stage and ripped it up pretty bad. He iced it for a while and played a fantastic set with Mayor For Life, but afterward his leg looked really bad - there was a raised bruise the size of a lemon, he wasnt able to stand properly, and he clearly needed some medical attention. Rich ended up spending all night in the Stroger Hospital ER and underwent an exam and x-rays to determine just how bad it was. The good news is that his leg wasnt broken and that it was just an extremely nasty bone bruise. This was a great outcome in that he will heal quicker and can keep playing, but as you probably know, a trip to the ER isnt cheap and Rich is not a wealthy dude. But hes rich in friends, and with good reason - if you know him hes done something for you. Hes rocked your face off with Bear Claw, Mayor for Life, Jackhammer Hearts, or another of his many bands. Hes run sound for hundreds of bands, and lent and hauled tons of gear for shows. Hes made you laugh uncontrollably, and talked with you about real life stuff with uncommon honesty and clarity. To make a long story short, Rich doesnt need a huge medical bill hanging over his head. It just doesnt need to be a thing. Heres what I propose - if everyone who appreciates Rich as much as I do will send a few bucks in care of his bandmates in Mayor For Life, we can make it go away and Rich can get back to concentrating on making great music.
