Help those who need a room to rent by helping live-in landlords (like myself) by signing this petition... Currently the costs of taking in lodgers greatly outweigh the benefits - increased council tax and utility costs yet, live-in landlords are only exempt from paying tax on a measly £4250 per year...when your mortgage is anywhere from £500-1200/mth, add on the increase in council tax & utilities, live-in landlords end up paying tax on these things because HMRC currently see it as income...in reality, its barely even covering the costs of allowing someone to live in your home. The actual cost of renting a room, especially in London is £5,593 - £7,667 but the allowance hasnt been raised since its inception in 1997! Please sign & share this.
