Help to get the first Australians recognized in the Constitution...this is about recognizing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - really seeing them and removing discrimination against them from the countrys rule book. Opening the doors, honouring and respecting the people whos land white Australians have just invaded and disgustingly taken control over. Rudd said sorry, almost 6 years ago, yet not much has changed for the indigenous population of Australia. Symbolically removing the discrimination in our constitution stands for a step forward in the right direction for a truly multi-cultural Australia, a place that we can feel truly blessed to live in and come from. If you are white Australian surely you feel some shame for the way that we treat indigenous people in our society, choosing to believe the stereotypes driven by mainstream media that perpetuate racist myths & beliefs??? How many other people worldwide have the opportunity to share space with the oldest inhabitants on Earth??? Indigenous Peoples of Australia - I bow down to you in respect & gratitude for sharing this beautiful land of yours with us, I bow my head in shame for the atrocitys thrust upon your people both now and in the past, I humbly raise my head to almost meet your gaze in the hope that we may inhabit this space of yours, walking this land with honour and respect to the Elders and Ancestors, all that have walked before us....
