One mission my wife and I spent our last day in the city and decided to visit our patients at the hospital to see how they were healing outside of the planned mission schedule. We noticed a daughter and mother following us everywhere. They kept talking to our translator and we didnt know exactly what they wanted. I had recognized them during the mission when we were assessing each patients condition to see if we would choose them for surgery. Unfortunately, her daughter was not choosen. Before we left, the translator finally was irritated and pushed them away as we entered the taxi. I remember that day like yesterday. The mother started to cry because she thought I could operate on her daughter that day. When we go to these missions we help so many people from around the country who travel hundreds of miles to see us.
