Help us spread the message, not the bug NHS Health Scotland is aiming to raise awareness of Norovirus (the winter vomit bug). A series of public information banner ads, infographics and materials for partners to use on their website and twitter accounts has been developed. What’s the campaign about? The key message is to stay at home for at least 48 hours after your symptoms stop to prevent the virus spreading. We’re distributing posters and leaflets to various community settings in your area such as schools, nurseries, libraries, community centres as well as GP surgeries, hospitals, care homes and pharmacies. What’s it got to do with me? Norovirus thrives in places where people are in close proximity such as workplaces, schools, colleges and on public transport. So we’re harnessing the efforts of a wide range of partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors to help minimise the chances of any outbreaks in your local authority area. How you can help us spread the message, not the bug We’ve developed a digital media toolkit for your use. It’s available at healthscotland/norovirus and contains: • pdfs of the materials • digital banner ads to place on your website/intranet • infographics for use on your websites and social media accounts • Pre-written tweets and Facebook posts When should my activity start? Norovirus season normally starts around mid October so please plan in any activity for w/c 13th October onwards. Go in and have a look and add your voice to our campaign. It would be greatly appreciated. If you have any suggestions on how this toolkit could be developed in the future please don’t hesitate to get in touch healthscotland/resources/campaigns/norovirus.aspx
