Hennessey Public Library would like to announce the new Summer Reading LEGO STEM Camp. Robots! Computers! Stop animation video! Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) are used to craft original Lego creations that walk, talk and obey the computer guided commands of their creator. Camp begins June 18th from 1-3pm for young patrons age 7-15. This camp will run through the whole summer and into the school year when it will become an afterschool program from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Each afternoon, the Legos will be available for children and teens to use. We are also offering The STEM Club for the school. Mrs. Audry will take books to go along with the topic the children are learning about. This program will be avaible for all teachers in the Hennessey School as well as Dover and Kingfisher area. We are now the STEM library for Kingfisher County! The Lego grant that makes this possible was awarded to only thirty-six other libraries in the state for the purchase of Legos for summer reading programs. These exciting opportunities come to the Hennessey Public Library as a result of the awarding of a highly competitive grant funded by Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
