Henry County Jury Notices Sent Out Paris, Tenn.-The Henry County Circuit Court Clerks Office has processed the November 2013 term Jury Summons for mailing, according to Court Clerk Mike Wilson. The mailing is comprised of 250 potential jurors to serve during the November - February jury term. When someone receives a jury summons, Wilson said, they should complete the questionnaire and postcard enclosed in the mailing and return those as soon as possible using the postage paid envelope and postcard included. If someone receives a jury summons by mistake due to an improperly addressed summons or due to a person having moved from an address, they should contact the Circuit Court Clerks Office to resolve the situation. It is important to respond in any circumstance due to the serious nature of the summons. For any potential juror that may have a conflict or reason why they do not qualify to serve, there is a form titled, Juror Eligibility Form, that they should complete along with the questionnaire and postcard and return. All of these instructions are outlined in the juror summons mailing. Common reasons that may prevent someone from serving include having moved out of Henry County, convicted of a felony, away serving active military duty, attending college full-time out of state, served recently on jury duty (last 24 months) and in some cases a citizen may have died since the pool listing of potential jurors was provided from the Department of Safety. In all instances, we ask that someone respond on the potential jurors behalf so that the judge may make a judgment as to what is appropriate for that persons circumstances and so we can update our records. Ignoring or falsifying a jury service summons may result in civil penalties by the court. Jury duty service in Henry County is typically light, Wilson said, and citizens should not be alarmed when they receive notice but should complete the forms and return them by the deadline stated on the summons. Our judge and my office will work to make jury duty service a positive experience, he said. Please direct any questions to the Circuit Court Clerks Office, (731) 642-0461. The current July - October 2013 jury term is wrapping up with only one call-in date remaining for Panel 2 and a few others that may have been especially appointed to Panel 2, on Wednesday, October 29 for a potential jury trial on the following day, Thursday, October 30, 2013.
