Hens Bethe extoled/articulated the genius of Richard Feynman in a few sentences that will never be re-worded better in the future. “There are two types of genius. Ordinary geniuses do great things, but they leave you room to believe that you could do the same if only you worked hard enough. Then there are magicians, and you can have no idea how they do it. Feynman was a magician.” U. Srinivas was one of those magicians who left us no room to realize how he did his magic on that Folk instrument. I always thought someday I could go and meet famous Tamil writer Sujatha just to fetch an autograph. But he is no more. The second person I wanted to meet was Srinivas. Damn, it just happens to me again. My uncle used to tell me that I was good enough to play the blues and I should start learning Carnatic on my guitar. I never paid attention to him until I listened to Srinivas. The very first song was Mandolin U Shrinivas- Swararaaga Sudha of the most famous and hackneyed raagas Sankarabaranam. Personally, the only other rendition of that raaga that made me spellbound earlier was MSV’s Bharathi Kannamma. This song opened the doors for me. I’m still a pure novice in Carnatic. But he turned me on to this wonderful music, I would have missed otherwise. A mistake that would martyr one’s lifetime (my life at least). Prakash Hariharan https://facebook/pkharry?fref=ts Please continue to carry the legacy as far as you can do. Thanks. I’m still looking for Srinivas’s original for Project YUJ – Miracle on the internet. You did a marvelous job. I personally didn’t like Michhael Brook’s collaboration with Srinivas when I had heard it for the first time. I wanted more of Srinivas back then but I was cheated by his arrangement, it was very difficult to do with our indigenous genius but he didn’t pull it off. I wasn’t impressed until I listened to your cover. I’m still looking for the original on the internet. I will surely buy those tunes. Please continue to do more stuff that will be etched in our memories like Srinivas did in his short but a meaningful life. P.S: If you are interested in knowing more about Hens Bethe or Feynman, you are welcome to do so. Pls refer to Wikipedia. Feynman is a real treat for every single man on the earth regardless of his ethnicity, religion, language etc, he will surely amaze you, if you read the book Surely Youre Joking, Mr. Feynman! https://youtube/watch?v=JGcDAnrx2As
