Hentges Racing/Polaris’ Kody Kamm’s sled did not pass post tech following Saturday’s Pro Open main event at Duluth. After review, key ISOC and ISR officials determined that his sleds carburetors failed post-race inspection due to the use of a baffle plate in the float bowl of his carbs. This plate was designed to reduce fuel sloshing that sometimes occurs when landing off a big jump, which in Snocross racing is sometimes referred to as a a bump bog. Our thinking was that this baffle mounts directly in the carburetor with no modifications to the carb, which does not improve the power in any way. It is designed as a safety device which would fall into the realm of carb tuning components which are legal (a grey area). Unfortunately, ISOC and ISR officials disagreed. Obviously, we are extremely disappointed with their decision but its clear to us now that we should have gone through other channels to get this safety device approved. Its my job to make sure our equipment is as safe as possible and that was (and is) what our intentions are,” stated team manager Tim Bender. “Our guys are innovative and Kody always gives it his all on the race track, he does things with his Polaris that are simply amazing. I am confident he will come out of the gates at Fargo and run up front like we know he can,” said team owner Nate Hentges.” I don’t think we did anything wrong. But we’re going to move on and focus on winning the next race.
