Hepi 39th befdei png! Today we celebrate our survival as a democratic and independent nation despite the challenges. We are also so blessed to have won our independence in such a peaceful manner, to have had such a benevolent.and supportive colonial master, to have retained so much of our natural resources at transition, and the scale of these natural resources. Given such blessings we also reflect.today on many missed opportunities, acknowledge our mistakes and commit to learning from them and improving our performance. I thank the people of Alotau District for giving.me.the honour of being their leader. I return that honour by doing my best every day to being the kind of leader they expect. It starts with better leadership at all levels, and I ask that everyone contributes to the cause of building a better Png by taking personal responsibility starting with your own health and attitude, your family and home. Png Em Mi Yah! Cmon!
