Read the Wall Street Journal report about the COO of Facebook and the CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA, joining together to campaign against calling people bossy, particularly girls. The link goes first to a timeline which tracks the use of the word bossy from 1910 to 2008. I was interested to note that the only time that the word was found to be equally applied to males and females was during a few years right after WWII. Perhaps this is due to women entering the manufacturing workforce en masse for the war effort, gaining respect and recognition.
