Her is another bit of thought to ponder in regards to the Protests in New Brunswick And I can appreciate the fact that you may not agree with what I will writing about, because what I will be saying is not something that you or I were never educated on the school system or educated on in the mainstream media. SO HERE IT IS.. If you really think about it, if an average Canadian tried to stop lets say a pipeline being built by organizing a protest they would be arrested on the spot and hauled away to jail and that person would have absolutely no legal remedy to back up their claim that they have the right to stop the pipeline from being built. That is because as a non native Canadian citizen you do not have a legal right to stop the govt from doing these types of things. Native people on the other hand have negotiated with the Govt a long long time ago( in the treaties) that when they ( the Govt)do types of activities that have a direct impact on the environment, there has to be meaningful consultation with the native people in Canada. Again it is not publicly known what the term and conditions are contained in the treaties but with a little research at your local library or the Archives of Canada anyone can find this info. And when you do, you will find out that us Natives are the only people in Canada that have the right to stop the Govt form harming our environment.
