Her name is Faith. It’s unknown how long this young Coonhound has been starving, but Dr. Heather Perkins, the La Plata County Humane Society veterinarian says that she probably has been for at least 2-4 weeks. Faith has been estimated to be at least 2 years old and she was weighed when she first arrived on Saturday (Sept. 20). A Coonhound her size and age should weigh around 45-50 pounds, but Faith only weighed 23 pounds. She’s been at LPCHS for only 5 days and she’s already gained 5 pounds. Bloodwork was done to make sure she didn’t have any other ailments and thankfully it came back normal. She is surprisingly healthy considering everything that she’s gone through.
