Her son hugged her and said, “You are the best mum in the whole entire world!” She smiled and sarcastically replied, “How do you know that? You haven’t met every mum in the whole entire world.” He squeezed her tighter and said, “Yes I have. You are my world. As a mum, it feels like every day we have this desire to accomplish something meaningful in other aspects of our lives. But every day it feels like we accomplish nothing. Same old routine, same wasted day. Bathe them, feed them, drop them off, pick them up while others are advancing in their careers. Society has impressed upon mothers the need to be perfect - be a successful mother and a successful career woman at the same time - but at the end of the day we still fall short. Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. Caring for children is one of the most important job a woman can have. The devil tries to make us feel different – inadequate, unfulfilled. Hug those children, love them, cherish them and tell the devil he is a liar. You may not be as successful career wise as you want right now, but you are successfully raising your children. You are successfully doing the assignment God has given you. That is a job on its own and your report card will show your accomplishment later in the years to come. So, when my son hugged me and told me I was the best mum in the world it made me realise that I was doing something right and that even though I have not climbed much in my career ladder as I would like, in his little world I have accomplished much and I am his world. I want to encourage you today that you are all doing a great job and God is pleased with you. Keep up the good work.
