Herbert M. Skidgel, 55, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home in Huntertown. Born in Columbia City, Herbert worked in Quality Control at the Fort Wayne Foundry for 25 years, most recently working for Industrial Age Contractors. Herbert had a special talent for working on cars. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, camping, traveling, videography, animals, and riding his motorcycle. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. Surviving are his daughters, Tracie Tellas of Huntertown, Abbie Skidgel of Fort Wayne, sons, Raymond and Jason Cowan, grandchildren, Kacie Tellas, Brinden, Camron, and Collin Cowan, his companion of 18 years, Pattie Bittinger of Huntertown, siblings, William Skidgel of Vancouver, WA, Dian (Rick) Templeton of Spencerville, Raymond Skidgel of Avilla, Curtis (Cara) Skidgel of Laotto, Wayne Skidgel of Kendallville, Polly (Dave) Swenson of New Haven, many nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by parents, Russel and Mary Skidgel. Service is 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at the Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 09, 2013 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
